Solution 4: Clear contents of user and system temp folders

Navigate to C:WindowsTemp, select all the files, and then press Delete. Confirm the file deletion.

Delete the contents of the users Temp directory as follows:

• Windows XP: Choose Start > Run.
• Windows 7/Vista: Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.

In the Open box, type %temp% and then click OK. The contents of the Temp folder appear on the computer.

Select all the files in the Temp folder, then press Delete. Confirm the file deletion.

Solution 5: Verify that the Windows Installer Service is started

Do one of the following:
• Windows XP: Choose Start > Run and type services.msc.
• Windows Vista: Click Start and type services.msc in the Start Search box.
Ensure that the value of the Startup Type field is set to Manual.

Solution 6: Reregister the Windows Installer service

Do one of the following:
• Windows XP: Choose Start > Run.
• Windows Vista: Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.
In the Open box, type 'msiexec /unreg' and then press Enter.
Do one of the following:
• Windows XP: Choose Start > Run.
• Windows Vista: Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.
In the Open box, type 'msiexec /regserver' and then press Enter.

Solution 7: Install to a folder that is not encrypted

Encrypted folders are protected against further changes, which includes adding files or installing applications. Either remove the encryption or install to a different folder.

NOTE: The Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders cannot be encrypted even if you are installing to a different directory. Some components of Adobe applications install to the OS Program Files folder regardless of what your settings are.

Follow the onscreen instructions until you get to the Installation Location dialog box.

Click Browse and select a folder without encryption.

Method: 1 Using Microsoft Fix it tool

It is the first and easiest method to fix the error code by following the steps:

• For automatically fixing you need to download and use the Fix it tool by Microsoft.
• After you download the program, install on it your PC and run the program.
• Now the program will fix the “Fatal error during installation” issue while installing and uninstalling the program.

Method: 2 Change the Installation Location you’re trying to install

Many times this Fatal Error 1603 occurs because the location you choose to install the program is not available due to various reasons one of them may be encrypted. Therefore you need to change another installation folder to install the program and try again to install the program and check whether the problem is solved.

Method: 3 Restart Windows Installer Service

If you are here, it means the error still not resolved from the above methods. Well in this step you need to restart the Microsoft Windows Installer Service because in a few situations the MSI doesn’t work due to many problems like MSI error codes.

• Firstly, you need to Press Windows Key + R it will open a Run box, then type services.msc and hit Enter.

Method: 5 Obtain Full Control on the Drive

In some situations, the fatal error 1603 occurs when you don’t have the full permission on the file location where you are trying to install your program. To ensure that the SYSTEM account has the appropriate privileges you have to follow the below steps.

• First of all, open the File Explorer then right-click the drive which has installation file location and then select Properties.
• A new window opens where you need to select the security tab and click on the edit button.

• Now Click on System button under the subheading “Permissions” and Check “Allow” next to “Full Control” option, then click “Apply” and hit “OK” button. You have to do same even for the administrator.

• Next, you need to go back to Properties dialogue box then click on the “Advanced” button.
• Now click on the change permission button.

• In the next step, on the permission tab, you need to double click on the Administrators.
• You need to Select “This folder, subfolders, and files for Applies to the field and tick all the available basic permissions. After that hit OK.

• Repeat the same step even for the SYSTEM then click OK.
• Now you have the full permissions to access the drive. Try to install the application and see that the problem is resolved.
