Have you checked the option Connect Automatically?

Follow the steps below and check if the issue still persist:

Step 1: Click on the Network Icon on the system tray located on the right hand bottom corner of the screen.

Step 2: Select your network from the window.

Step 3: Check the box Connect Automatically.

Step 4: Close the window, restart your PC, and check if the connection gets connected automatically.

I assume you haven't tried this in relation to VPN's otherwise you would realise that there is no 'Connect Automatically' option.

My PC connects automatically to Ethernet or Wifi however.

The title of this question states that the user is trying to connect automatically to a 'VPN' connection not a wifi or LAN based internet connection.
The problem is that the VPN connection does not have that option.

Again, this does not help. Those options do not exist in Windows 7. It seems like for a support person you have very little understanding of the Windows 10 OS.

Here are the directions I used to set this up to auto redial. Yes it does use rasdial

I would suspect setting up a trigger for this to run at logon or run at startup that it would work, though I am not at a place where I can test that.

Please see the last response on this thread for the instructions. I did specify the VPN name, username and password as arguments on the Actions tab
